Juupajoki

Juupajoki is a small municipality in the Pirkanmaa region of Finland, characterised by dense forests, lakes and terrain that is notably hilly for the area. It is best known for containing part of Helvetinjärvi National Park, renowned for its deep gorges, rock formations and the trail leading to the Helvetinkolu crevice, a natural site popular with hikers. The village of Korkeakoski, set along a set of rapids, is one of the main settlements within the municipality. Juupajoki is also home to the Hyytiälä Forestry Field Station, run by the University of Helsinki, an internationally recognised environmental research site. The landscape, dominated by the vast woodlands typical of central Finland, lends itself to hiking, fishing and outdoor pursuits throughout the year, with long snowy winters and short but bright summers.
