Hausjärvi

Hausjärvi is a rural municipality in the Kanta-Häme region of southern Finland, situated near Riihimäki and Hyvinkää, and less than ninety minutes' drive from Helsinki. It comprises several villages, including Oitti, its administrative centre, along with Ryttylä and Hikiä, both served by the railway line connecting Helsinki and Hämeenlinna. The landscape is typical of the Finnish countryside, featuring pine and birch forests, cultivated fields, and numerous lakes, including Lake Hausjärvi, from which the municipality takes its name. The area lends itself well to outdoor pursuits: hiking and berry or mushroom picking in summer and autumn, fishing on the many lakes, and cross-country skiing or snowshoeing during the Nordic winter, which is often snow-covered from December to March. Housing consists mainly of traditional timber houses and scattered farmsteads, reflecting the area's agricultural character.
