Ranua

Ranua is a municipality in Finnish Lapland, located in the South Lapland region, best known for the Ranua Wildlife Park, home to Arctic and subarctic species set within a forested landscape, including polar bears, lynxes, wolves and reindeer. The park is the area's main attraction, drawing visitors keen to observe these animals in a setting suited to the northern climate. The region experiences long, harsh winters, ideal for activities such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, husky sledding, snowmobiling and Northern Lights viewing during the darker months. In summer, extended daylight hours, typical of the midnight sun, make the area well suited to hiking and exploring the surrounding boreal forests and lakes.
