Keminmaa

Keminmaa is a municipality in northern Finland's Lapland region, located at the mouth of the Kemijoki river, just north of the town of Kemi and close to the Gulf of Bothnia. The area is known for its medieval stone church, one of the oldest in northern Finland, reflecting the region's religious history dating back to the Middle Ages. The surrounding landscape, shaped by the river delta and extensive boreal forests, provides good opportunities for outdoor pursuits such as fishing, hiking and nature watching in summer, and cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing in winter. The subarctic climate brings long, snowy winters with partial polar nights, alongside short but bright summers under the midnight sun.
