Laukaa

Laukaa is a municipality in the Central Finland region, a short distance north-east of Jyväskylä. Like much of the surrounding countryside, the area combines dense forest with numerous lakes, including Lake Leppävesi, which borders the main village. This proximity to water makes fishing, summer swimming and winter activities such as skating and cross-country skiing popular pastimes for both residents and visitors. Laukaa is also home to a recognised national centre for breeding the Finnhorse, reflecting the area's long agricultural and equestrian heritage. The village itself retains a wooden church typical of nineteenth-century rural Finnish architecture.
