Ukkohalla

Ukkohalla is a winter sports resort located in the municipality of Puolanka, in the Kainuu region of eastern Finland. Set amid boreal forests and rolling hills, it benefits from reliable, long-lasting snow cover typical of this northern latitude, allowing for an extended ski season from autumn through to spring. The resort offers alpine ski slopes suited to various skill levels, along with numerous cross-country trails winding through the surrounding woodland. Snowshoeing and snowmobile excursions are also popular winter activities in the area. Kainuu is known for its vast, sparsely populated landscapes, frozen lakes in winter, and unspoiled nature, making it ideal for spotting local wildlife. Owing to its northerly position, the region offers favourable conditions for viewing the Northern Lights on clear winter nights.
