Paltamo

Paltamo is a municipality in the Kainuu region of eastern Finland, situated on the shores of Lake Oulujärvi, one of the country's largest lakes. This rural area, crossed by the Kiehimänjoki River, is characterised by vast boreal forests, wetlands and the unspoilt natural surroundings typical of Kainuu. The lakeside setting makes it a popular spot for fishing, canoeing and swimming in summer, while the surrounding trails are well suited to hiking and birdwatching, particularly during the migratory season. In winter, the region offers good conditions for cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing, with snow typically covering the landscape from November to April.
