Hollola

Hollola is a municipality in the Päijät-Häme region of Finland, bordering the city of Lahti and lying along the shores of Lake Vesijärvi. The historic village centre of Hollola (Hollolan kirkonkylä), recognised as a nationally significant built environment, is home to the medieval stone Church of Saint Mary, one of Finland's oldest religious buildings, surrounded by a graveyard and traditional wooden houses. The Messilä area, with its manor house and estate, serves as a year-round activity hub, offering downhill and cross-country skiing in winter, hiking and mountain biking trails in summer, and a family adventure park. The surrounding landscape features farmland, forests and lakeshores typical of southern Finland, providing a peaceful setting for fishing, boating and countryside walks. Its proximity to Lahti gives easy access to shops, services and cultural amenities of a larger city, while retaining an unspoilt rural character.
