Nykøbing Mors

Nykøbing Mors is the main town on the island of Mors, set within the Limfjord in northern Jutland. Once a fishing port, it retains a historic centre around Dueholm Kloster, a former monastery now home to the Mors Historical Museum, which explores local history and the area's distinctive geology, shaped by moler, a fossil-rich sedimentary rock. Nearby, the site of Feggeklit is linked to the legend of Amled, said to have inspired Shakespeare's Hamlet. Jesperhus Flower Park, one of Denmark's largest, draws visitors with its themed gardens and tropical aquarium. Surrounded by the Limfjord, Mors island offers cliffs, beaches and coastal paths well suited to walking and cycling. The climate is temperate and maritime, with mild summers and relatively gentle winters for the latitude. The town serves as a convenient base for exploring the island, its marinas and its unspoilt natural landscapes, characteristic of north-western Denmark.
