Biscarrosse bourg

Biscarrosse bourg is the town centre of the commune of Biscarrosse, in the Landes department of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Set inland between the Atlantic coast and the large Biscarrosse-Parentis lake, the bourg forms the administrative and commercial heart of the town, with shops, a market, restaurants and a church. The area is surrounded by the pine forests of the Landes de Gascogne, ideal for walking or cycling thanks to a network of cycle paths linking the town centre to the lake and the coast. The lake, a few kilometres away, is suited to sailing, canoeing and swimming, while the ocean beaches, particularly Biscarrosse-Plage, are popular with surfers. The town is also home to the Musée de l'Hydraviation, which traces the history of the seaplane base and the Latécoère aircraft that marked Biscarrosse's industrial past in the 20th century. The mild oceanic climate, extensive woodland and the close proximity of lake and sea make this a convenient base for exploring the Landes coastline and its forested hinterland.
