Vercorin

Vercorin is a mountain village in the Valais region, perched on a sunny plateau facing the Valais Alps at around 1,300 metres above sea level. Reached by funicular from Chalais, it retains an authentic character with traditional wooden chalets and typical narrow lanes. The resort offers a family-friendly ski area in winter, while summer brings walkers to the network of trails, particularly along the 'bisses', the traditional irrigation channels that wind across the hillside and provide shaded paths with views over the Rhône valley. Mountain biking and paragliding are also practised in the area, thanks to the open terrain and favourable thermal currents. The surrounding region also lends itself to day trips to other Swiss natural sites, such as alpine lakes reachable within a day from Valais, a popular option for varying mountain outings. The dry, sunny climate typical of central Valais adds to the area's reputation as a year-round destination, combining relaxation and outdoor activities within a preserved, sparsely urbanised alpine setting.
