Erquy

Erquy is a coastal town in the Côtes-d'Armor department of northern Brittany, well known for its scallop fishing industry and ranked among France's leading scallop ports. The small harbour still hosts a working fishing fleet, giving life to the seafront. The town is notable for its fine sandy beaches, such as Caroual beach and the town-centre beach, as well as for Cap d'Erquy, a protected natural site where heather and gorse moorland meets pink sandstone cliffs overlooking the English Channel. The coastal footpath (GR34) runs along the shoreline, linking Erquy on foot to nearby sites such as Cap Fréhel and Fort la Latte. More understated than glamorous, the resort offers plenty of outdoor pursuits, including walking, sailing, sand-yachting and shellfish gathering depending on the tides. The local market and shops in the town centre showcase regional produce, particularly freshly landed scallops. With its mild oceanic climate and varied coastal scenery, Erquy is a popular choice for nature-focused breaks combining sea air with the Breton countryside.
