Batz sur Mer

Batz-sur-Mer is a coastal town in the Loire-Atlantique department, located on the Guérande peninsula between La Baule and Le Croisic. It is closely linked to the Guérande salt marshes, part of which lie within its boundaries, where salt is still harvested using traditional methods. The Saint-Guénolé church, with its tall bell tower, stands over the village and rewards those who climb its steps with sweeping views over the marshes, the ocean and the surrounding countryside. The town's rocky shoreline, less developed than that of La Baule, is well suited to walking along the coastal path (GR34) and watching the sea, particularly during high spring tides. The village centre retains an authentic character, with stone houses typical of the region. Batz-sur-Mer makes a quiet base from which to explore the sandy beaches of the Côte d'Amour, the harbour at Le Croisic and the Guérande hinterland, while remaining away from the summer bustle of neighbouring resorts.
