El Tarter

El Tarter is a village in the parish of Canillo, Andorra, set in the Incles valley at around 1,700 metres above sea level. It serves as one of the main access points to the Grandvalira ski area, the largest in the Pyrenees, with slopes connecting to Soldeu and other sectors as far as Pas de la Casa. In winter, the village revolves largely around alpine skiing and snowboarding, with ski lifts easily reachable from the centre. The nearby Incles valley offers walking and horse-riding trails in summer, set amid unspoilt mountain scenery dotted with rivers and pastures. El Tarter retains traditional mountain architecture, including a number of stone buildings reflecting the region's rural heritage. The village has shops, restaurants serving Catalan and Andorran cuisine, and accommodation suited to ski holidays. Its location makes it a convenient base for exploring both the neighbouring resorts and the surrounding nature trails, within a typical alpine setting in the Principality of Andorra, between France and Spain.
