Lenno

Lenno is a village on Lake Como, in Lombardy, set on the western shore facing Bellagio. It is best known for Villa del Balbianello, perched on the Punta di Lavedo promontory, whose terraced gardens and lake views draw many visitors; the villa, managed by the FAI heritage trust, can be reached on foot or by boat from the village's small harbour. Lenno also retains a historic centre with the Romanesque church of Santo Stefano and its adjoining medieval baptistery. A short boat ride away lies Isola Comacina, the lake's only island, popular for a leisurely stroll and a lakeside lunch. The village offers direct access to the water with a small beach and a harbour where rowing boats or paddleboards can be hired. The surrounding hills invite walks towards wooded ridges above the lake, offering views towards Bellagio and Menaggio. The mild climate, tempered by lake breezes, makes the area pleasant from late spring to early autumn, with the peak tourist season falling in July and August.
