Lago di Ledro

Lake Ledro is an Alpine lake in Trentino, sitting at around 655 metres above sea level within a green valley just a few kilometres from Lake Garda. Fed by mountain springs, its waters are known for their clarity and coolness, making it a popular spot for summer swimming. The area is particularly noted for Bronze Age pile-dwelling remains discovered at Molina di Ledro, displayed at the Museo delle Palafitte, which is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the prehistoric pile dwellings around the Alps. The lakeside is equipped with beaches, including one at Pieve, along with walking and cycling paths that circle the entire shoreline. Surrounding villages such as Bezzecca, Pieve di Ledro and Molina di Ledro provide a typical rural Trentino setting, framed by wooded mountains. The climate is milder than in higher mountain areas, benefiting from the nearby influence of Lake Garda. The region is well suited to hiking, cycling, sailing and canoeing, offering a peaceful setting away from the busier tourist crowds of neighbouring Lake Garda.
