Arco

Arco is a small town in Trentino, northern Italy, situated at the northern tip of Lake Garda, just a few kilometres from Riva del Garda. Overlooked by its medieval castle perched on a limestone outcrop, the town offers views over the Sarca valley and surrounding mountains. The particularly mild climate, favoured by the lake's proximity, allows olive and citrus trees to grow, giving the town an almost Mediterranean feel despite its alpine setting. Arco is especially well known among climbing and bouldering enthusiasts, thanks to the numerous limestone cliffs nearby that attract climbers from around the world, notably during the Rock Master, an international event dedicated to the sport. The old town, with its cobbled lanes, shaded squares and Austrian-influenced architecture dating back to the Habsburg era, is pleasant to wander through. The surrounding area is also suited to cycling, hiking and windsurfing on the nearby lake. Arco therefore makes an appealing base for combining outdoor activities, modest historical heritage and the relaxed way of life typical of the Trentino Garda region.
