Riva del Garda

Riva del Garda is a town in the Trentino region of northern Italy, positioned at the northern tip of Lake Garda and framed by the Monte Baldo and Monte Brione mountain ranges. Its lake-moderated climate, combined with reliable thermal winds, makes it a popular spot for sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing. The old town retains the Rocca, a medieval fortress now housing a museum, along with the Torre Apponale, a 13th-century tower overlooking the harbour. Pedestrian lanes lined with colourfully fronted buildings lead to lively squares filled with shops and cafés. Nearby, the Varone waterfall, set within a natural gorge, offers an accessible day-trip destination. The area also serves as a base for hiking and cycling, notably along the former Ponale railway path, which provides views over the lake. Pebble beaches, such as Sabbioni, allow for swimming during the summer months. Local cuisine highlights regional olive oil and Trentino wines.
