Salo'

Salò is a town on the western shore of Lake Garda, in the province of Brescia, Lombardy. Its historic centre, arranged around a long lakeside promenade lined with arcades and colourful façades, is home to the Duomo (Cattedrale di Santa Maria Annunziata), built in a late Gothic style, along with several old palazzi reflecting its past as a prosperous Venetian-era town. The town is also historically significant as the administrative seat of the Italian Social Republic between 1943 and 1945, a notable chapter of 20th-century history. The mild, lake-tempered Mediterranean climate supports olive and citrus cultivation on the surrounding hillsides.
