Peschiera del Garda

Peschiera del Garda is a fortified town at the south-eastern tip of Lake Garda, in the province of Verona, Veneto. Its historic centre is encircled by star-shaped Venetian ramparts built in the 16th and 17th centuries, now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Venetian defensive works. The River Mincio flows through the town via a network of canals, lined with pleasant walkways and characteristic bridges. The town has a small marina and lakeside beaches suitable for swimming and watersports. Peschiera also serves as a convenient base for exploring Lake Garda, with ferry connections to Sirmione and other lakeside towns. Its location places it within easy reach of the Gardaland and Movieland theme parks, both popular with families during the summer season. Verona lies around 25 kilometres away, easily reached by train or car. The lake-moderated Mediterranean climate supports an active tourist season from spring through autumn, with opportunities for walking, cycling along the shoreline paths, and exploring the town's Venetian military heritage.
