St-Laurent de la Salanque

Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque is a village in the Pyrénées-Orientales department, set within the Salanque plain just a few kilometres from the Mediterranean coast and the nearby resorts of Le Barcarès and Torreilles-Plage. This typical Roussillon village enjoys a Mediterranean climate with plenty of sunshine, along with the tramontane winds common to the area. The local economy remains closely tied to agriculture, particularly the fruit and vegetable farming for which the Salanque plain is known. Perpignan, around fifteen kilometres away, provides easy access to shops, the train station and the main routes linking Spain with the rest of France. The surrounding countryside offers classic French Catalan scenery, combining lagoons, farmland and coastal stretches ideal for walking or cycling. The fine sandy beaches of Le Barcarès and Torreilles, less than ten minutes away by car, are among the area's main draws for holidaymakers.
