Garda

Garda is a small town on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, in the province of Verona, Veneto. It lends its name to Italy's largest lake and enjoys a favourable position between rolling hills and calm waters, close to neighbouring towns such as Bardolino and Torri del Benaco. The historic centre, with its narrow lanes lined with colourful houses, is built around a charming little harbour where pleasure boats moor. The lakeside promenade offers lovely views of the blue waters framed by Monte Baldo. The area is well known for wine production, particularly Bardolino, as well as for locally produced olive oil. Garda makes a convenient base for exploring other lakeside villages, such as Malcesine or Sirmione, easily reached by boat or car. The mild Mediterranean climate, softened by the lake's influence, supports typical southern vegetation including olive trees, cypresses and citrus groves. Water sports, walking in the surrounding hills, and browsing local markets are among the typical pastimes for those staying in this part of Lake Garda.
