Barjac

Barjac is a small town in the Gard department, in the Languedoc region, close to the Ardèche border, set amid rolling hills and garrigue scrubland typical of southern France. The town retains a medieval character, with narrow lanes, stone houses and a château that now serves as the town hall. Barjac is known for its truffle market, held during the winter months, which draws producers and enthusiasts from across the region. The area enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild winters, well suited to outdoor pursuits. Its location makes it a convenient base for exploring the Ardèche and Cèze gorges, popular for hiking, canoeing and dramatic limestone scenery.
