Porto Rotondo

Porto Rotondo is a coastal town in north-eastern Sardinia, in the province of Sassari, just a few kilometres from Olbia. Developed from the 1960s onwards by private investors on granite terrain overlooking the gulf, it has become an upmarket seaside resort, often linked with the nearby Costa Smeralda. Its centre revolves around Piazzetta San Marco, a cobbled square lined with boutiques, restaurants and bars that comes alive on summer evenings. The marina, able to accommodate numerous boats including large yachts, is the hub of local activity and reflects the town's strong nautical character. The surrounding area offers coves and fine sandy beaches with turquoise waters, such as Punta Volpe and Marinella, popular for swimming and water sports. Mediterranean vegetation, a mix of scrubland and pine trees, frames discreet villas scattered across the surrounding hills. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, draws most visitors between June and September. Local cuisine highlights seafood and traditional Sardinian specialities, served in restaurants around the harbour and village.
