Førde

Førde is a town in Vestland county, western Norway, regarded as the administrative and commercial hub of the Sunnfjord region. Set within a valley surrounded by mountains, it makes a convenient base for exploring the nearby fjords, including Førdefjorden, as well as Lake Jølstravatnet a short distance away. The town is known for Førdefestivalen, an international festival of traditional and world music held each summer, drawing performers from many countries. The oceanic climate brings frequent rainfall and mild summers, well suited to hiking in the surrounding hills. The area offers mountain trails, valley viewpoints and reasonably easy access to some of western Norway's landmark natural sites, such as the fringes of the Jostedalsbreen glacier.
