Ginzling

Ginzling is a small mountain village at the head of the Zillertal valley in Austrian Tyrol, sitting at around 1,000 metres above sea level. Surrounded by the peaks of the Zillertal Alps, it serves as a popular starting point for hikers, particularly those heading towards the Zemmtal valley and the Schlegeis reservoir, reached via a mountain road known for its scenic views. The village lies within the Zillertal Alps Nature Park, a protected area featuring glaciers, waterfalls and alpine pastures. In winter, Ginzling often acts as a base for ski touring and snowshoeing enthusiasts, while the Hintertux glacier ski area lies nearby in the same valley. The local architecture reflects traditional Tyrolean style, with timber chalets and a typical village church. Regional cuisine highlights mountain produce such as sheep's cheese and homemade cured meats. Ginzling remains a modest yet authentic destination, favoured for nature tourism, summer mountaineering and the tranquillity of its alpine surroundings, away from the busier resorts elsewhere in Tyrol.
