Pec pod Snezkou

Pec pod Sněžkou is a mountain village in the Krkonoše range (Giant Mountains), in the north-east of the Czech Republic, close to the Polish border. Nestled at the foot of Sněžka, the country's highest peak, it serves as a popular starting point for hikes to the summit and surrounding ridges, also reachable by cable car. In winter, the village becomes a ski resort with several lifts and slopes suited to various skill levels, complemented by cross-country trails in the valley below. The local architecture retains a traditional alpine character, featuring timber chalets typical of the region. The village lies within the Krkonoše National Park, a protected natural area home to varied flora and fauna, particularly at higher altitudes where rocky outcrops and subalpine vegetation can be found.
