Slapy

Slapy is a small village in Central Bohemia, set on the shores of Lake Slapy, a large reservoir created by the dam built on the Vltava River in the 1950s. Stretching for several dozen kilometres, this body of water is one of the most popular recreational spots near Prague, roughly 40 kilometres away. The area draws nature lovers and water sports enthusiasts alike, with swimming, boating, sailing, fishing and walks along the wooded shoreline among the common pastimes. The surrounding hills, covered in forest, provide a peaceful setting ideal for rambling and wildlife watching. The village itself remains modest in size, offering a handful of guesthouses, restaurants and jetties overlooking the lake, typical of Czech localities built around lakeside tourism.
