Ostravice

Ostravice is a mountain village in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic, nestled in the heart of the Beskids close to the Slovak border. Crossed by the river of the same name, it lies at the foot of Lysá hora, the range's highest peak at 1,323 metres, popular for hiking in summer and skiing in winter. The village is among the destinations favoured for chalet-style stays, featuring several traditional timber buildings typical of the region's mountain architecture. The wooded, hilly surroundings allow for a range of outdoor pursuits, including hiking, mountain biking, cross-country and downhill skiing depending on the season. The village is close to Frýdlant nad Ostravicí, a small town offering local shops and services. The Moravian-Silesian Beskids are also known for their unspoilt landscapes and tranquillity, making the area a good base for exploring the surrounding mountain trails as well as nearby villages that retain a traditional rural heritage. The climate is continental, with snowy winters and mild summers well suited to outdoor activities.
