Myslenice

Myślenice is a small town in southern Poland, in the Lesser Poland (Małopolskie) region, located around thirty kilometres south of Kraków. Nestled at the foot of the Beskid Mountains, it serves as a popular gateway to the surrounding highlands, including the Beskid Wyspowy range and the lower slopes of the Gorce Mountains, offering plenty of opportunities for hiking and outdoor pursuits. The town itself retains a historic centre with its market square and several religious buildings reflecting its long history, with Myślenice first recorded in Polish documents as early as the Middle Ages. Its location also makes it a convenient stopping point on the way to Zakopane and the Tatra Mountains further south. The climate is continental, with cold, often snowy winters well suited to winter activities in the nearby mountains, and mild to warm summers ideal for outdoor excursions. The surrounding countryside is largely rural and hilly, dotted with forests and traditional villages. Rather than being a major tourist hub, Myślenice functions primarily as a quiet base or transit point for nature and mountain lovers, giving it an authentic, unspoilt character.
