Krasna Lipa

Krásná Lípa is a small town in Northern Bohemia, in the Ústí nad Labem region, close to the German border. It is best known as the gateway to the Bohemian Switzerland National Park (České Švýcarsko), hosting the park's administrative headquarters as well as a dedicated visitor centre offering information on hiking trails and the area's distinctive geology, particularly its sandstone rock formations. The town serves as a convenient base for exploring the surrounding natural landscape of forests, rock formations and deep valleys, popular for walking and mountain biking. The historic centre retains a number of traditional buildings reflecting the region's textile industry heritage from the 19th and 20th centuries. The climate is continental, with mild summers and cool winters, suitable for outdoor pursuits throughout the year. Krásná Lípa remains a low-key destination, geared more towards nature-based tourism than urban attractions or cultural sites, making it a favoured starting point for hikers keen to explore Bohemian Switzerland's countryside and rock landscapes.
