Kranjska Gora

Kranjska Gora is a mountain resort in north-western Slovenia, set within the Julian Alps close to the Austrian and Italian borders. Nestled in the Sava Dolinka valley, it is one of the country's leading ski destinations, offering slopes suited to families and skiers of all levels, along with lifts providing views over the surrounding peaks. The town also serves as the starting point for the Vršič Pass, a well-known winding mountain road leading towards the Soča valley, popular for hiking and cycling during the summer months. A few kilometres away lies Planica, recognised for its ski-jumping hills and international competitions. The village centre retains a traditional alpine character, with timber houses and several restaurants serving typical Slovenian dishes. In summer, the area draws trekkers, mountain bikers and anglers along the local rivers, while winter remains dominated by snow sports. The continental mountain climate brings mild summers and cold, generally snowy winters, making it a year-round destination for outdoor activities.
