Ichenheim

Ichenheim is a village forming part of the municipality of Neuried, located in the Ortenau district of Baden-Württemberg, close to the French border and the Alsace region. The village lies in the Upper Rhine plain, an agricultural area known for growing cereals, maize and asparagus, alongside orchards and vineyards typical of southern Germany. The nearby Rhine river and its accompanying canal provide popular routes for walking and cycling, including trips towards Strasbourg, easily reached by car or bike. The climate here is mild, among the gentlest in Germany, supporting lush vegetation throughout the year. Ichenheim retains a rural, tranquil character, with traditional village architecture and a number of working farms still in operation. The proximity of Kehl and Offenburg offers convenient access to shops, services and rail connections, while the surrounding region, set between the Black Forest and Alsace, makes a pleasant base for exploring both Rhineland cultures, with their regional cuisine, local markets and unspoilt countryside.
