Marienhafe

Marienhafe is a small village in East Frisia, Lower Saxony, located in the Krummhörn region just a few kilometres from the North Sea coast. It is best known for its striking medieval church tower, the remaining part of the former St Mary's Church, which rises above the flat Frisian marshland and has long served as a landmark for sailors and travellers crossing the open countryside. Local tradition links the village to the legendary pirate Klaus Störtebeker, said to have stayed in the area.
