Zirkow

Zirkow is a small rural village on the island of Rügen, in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, just a few kilometres from the seaside resorts of Binz and Prora. The surrounding landscape is characterised by farmland, meadows and small woodlands typical of the island's interior, offering a peaceful, green setting away from the busier coastal areas. Its proximity to the Baltic Sea allows easy access to sandy beaches and the chalk cliffs of Jasmund National Park, including the Königsstuhl viewpoint, one of Rügen's principal natural attractions. The area is well suited to walking and cycling, with the island offering an extensive network of cycle paths linking villages to the main tourist towns. The region is also known for the traditional seaside architecture found in Binz, as well as the former Prora complex, a notable reminder of 20th-century history. Zirkow therefore serves as a quiet base for exploring Rügen, combining unspoilt nature, regional heritage and convenient access to the amenities of nearby tourist towns.
