Bielsko Biala

Bielsko-Biała is a city in southern Poland, in the Silesian region, lying at the foot of the Beskid Mountains (Beskid Śląski and Beskid Żywiecki). This location makes it a popular starting point for hiking and skiing, particularly around Mount Szyndzielnia, reachable by cable car and offering marked trails as well as winter slopes. The city, formed from the merger of two historic towns, retains an old centre shaped by architecture reminiscent of the Austro-Hungarian era, earning it the nickname 'little Vienna'. Notable sights include Sułkowski Castle, now a museum, and a market square (Rynek) lined with colourful buildings. Bielsko-Biała also has a long industrial heritage, particularly in textiles and, more recently, the automotive sector, being home to a Fiat plant. The climate is continental, with cool winters suited to winter sports and mild summers ideal for outdoor activities. The city serves as a practical base for exploring the Beskid region while offering full urban amenities.
