Szczyrk

Szczyrk is a resort town in southern Poland, located in the Silesian Beskids, not far from the borders with the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Set in a valley surrounded by mountains, the town is best known as a winter sports destination, with several ski areas including those on Mount Skrzyczne, one of the region's notable peaks. Outside the winter season, the area attracts hikers thanks to a network of marked trails leading up to the surrounding ridges, offering wide views over the Beskid range. The town has well-developed tourist infrastructure, including chairlifts, cable cars and slopes suited to different skill levels. Szczyrk retains the feel of a small mountain town, with traditional timber houses and a relaxed atmosphere outside peak periods. The climate is continental, with cold, snowy winters ideal for winter sports and mild summers well suited to outdoor activities. The town serves as a convenient base for exploring the Silesian Beskids and experiencing Polish highland culture, from traditional shepherding heritage to regional dishes based on dairy products and smoked meats.
