Krynica Zdroj

Krynica-Zdrój is a well-known spa town in southern Poland, nestled in the Beskid Mountains within the Lesser Poland region, close to the Slovak border. Its mountain climate and clean air have made it a favoured health resort since the 19th century, largely thanks to its mineral springs, including the famous Zuber water, one of the most iron-rich mineral waters in Europe. The Bulwary Dietla promenade, lined with Belle Époque pavilions and the main pump room (Pijalnia Główna), forms the lively heart of the town. A century-old funicular railway climbs to the top of Parkowa Hill, offering panoramic views over the surrounding valleys and serving as a starting point for walking trails. The town is also linked to the memory of tenor Jan Kiepura, a local-born figure whose name remains tied to the area's cultural life. In winter, nearby slopes draw skiers, while summer favours hiking and traditional spa treatments. Krynica-Zdrój retains the classic atmosphere of a Central European spa town, blending architectural heritage, natural surroundings and a long-standing wellness tradition.
