Karpacz

Karpacz is a small mountain town in Lower Silesia, nestled at the foot of the Karkonosze range, known in English as the Giant Mountains. This range, which peaks at Śnieżka (1,603 m), is the area's main draw and forms part of the Karkonosze National Park, well known for its hiking trails, rock formations and mountain flora. The town serves as a popular starting point for climbing Śnieżka, reachable on foot via marked trails through the mountain forest. In winter, Karpacz turns into a ski resort with several alpine slopes and lift access. Among its notable landmarks is the Wang Church, a wooden building of Norwegian origin dating back to the 12th century, which was dismantled and rebuilt in Karpacz in the 19th century, now one of the most visited sites in the region. The town also offers mountain biking trails and outdoor activities suited to every season. Its unspoilt natural setting and proximity to the Czech border make it a favoured base for exploring the Sudetes.
