Blankenberge

Blankenberge is a seaside resort on the Belgian coast, in the province of West Flanders, known for its long sandy beach bordered by a lively promenade. This esplanade, one of the busiest along the coastline, is lined with shops and cafés and overlooked by a casino, while a pier stretches out into the North Sea, offering a popular vantage point for visitors. The harbour, combining fishing and pleasure boating activities, adds to the town's maritime atmosphere. Blankenberge also retains some early 20th-century architecture, visible in villas and façades around the town centre. The resort makes a convenient base for exploring the wider region: Bruges, whose historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies around fifteen kilometres away and is easily reached by train or car. The surrounding area also offers coastal cycling paths linking neighbouring seaside towns. The climate is temperate and maritime, with mild summers well suited to outdoor activities and swimming during the holiday season.
