Kaprun

Kaprun is an Austrian mountain resort in the state of Salzburg, situated at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn massif and close to Zell am See. It is well known for its glacier, which allows year-round skiing thanks to a high-altitude ski area accessible via an underground funicular and modern cable cars. The region is also notable for its hydroelectric dams, particularly those at Mooserboden and Wasserfallboden, set within a dramatic high-mountain landscape and reachable in summer via a scenic mountain road. Kaprun offers a wide range of activities throughout the year, including alpine and touring skiing in winter, and hiking, mountain biking and mountaineering in summer. The village retains a traditional alpine character, with typical chalets, hotels and shops geared towards mountain tourism. Its proximity to Lake Zell am See makes it easy to combine water sports with mountain activities.
