Krk/Omišalj

Omišalj is a village at the north-western tip of the island of Krk, in Croatia's Kvarner region. Perched on a cliff overlooking the bay that bears its name, the old town retains cobbled lanes, traditional stone houses and a parish church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. The village enjoys open views across the strait separating the island from the mainland, spanned by the Krk Bridge, which links the island to the Istrian peninsula and the rest of Croatia. Rijeka Airport lies close by, making the area easy to reach. The surrounding coastline features pebble coves and a few sandy stretches, popular for swimming and water sports. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, supports olive groves and vineyards scattered across the nearby hills. Omišalj serves as a convenient base for exploring other spots on the island, such as Krk town and Njivice, as well as the city of Rijeka on the mainland. The atmosphere remains quiet and residential, typical of small coastal villages in the Kvarner region.
