Novi Vinodolski/Klenovica

Novi Vinodolski and Klenovica lie on the Kvarner coast in Croatia, facing the island of Krk, within the historic Vinodol region. Novi Vinodolski is notable for its medieval legal heritage: the Vinodol Codex, one of the oldest legislative texts written in a Slavic language, was proclaimed here in 1288. The old town still holds the remains of a castle built by the Frankopan family, overlooking the seafront. Klenovica, a small neighbouring village, has retained its character as a traditional fishing settlement, with stone houses lining the bay. The coastline alternates between pebble and shingle beaches, popular for swimming, along with a coastal promenade connecting the two settlements, shaded by pines and tamarisks. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, supports water sports, diving and recreational fishing. The local economy relies largely on summer tourism, with several campsites and holiday homes situated along the shore. The port of Novi Vinodolski offers seasonal ferry connections to the island of Krk, making day trips straightforward for visitors staying in the area.
