Rab/Kampor

Kampor is a village on the north-western coast of the island of Rab, Croatia, set along a sheltered bay. The area is best known for its fine sandy beach, backed by shaded pine woods, with shallow waters that make it particularly well suited to families with young children. Nearby stands the Franciscan monastery of St Euphemia, along with a memorial site marking the location of a Second World War detention camp, now preserved as a place of remembrance. The village retains a quiet, residential character, with a handful of shops, restaurants and beach bars. The historic town of Rab, with its medieval old quarter and famous bell towers, lies around ten kilometres away and is easily reached on foot, by bike or by bus. The surrounding area lends itself well to swimming, snorkelling and diving, as well as hiking and cycling across the island, which is noted for its dense greenery and secluded coves. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, supports a beach holiday season running from May to September. Kampor offers a calmer alternative to Rab town, valued for its unspoilt natural surroundings.
