Rab

Rab is an island and harbour town in northern Dalmatia, Croatia, known for its medieval old town built on a narrow peninsula. Its distinctive skyline features four Romanesque bell towers rising above stone rooftops and cobbled lanes. The seafront promenade, lined with cafés and restaurants, offers views across the channel to the wooded hills beyond. The island is known for its varied beaches, including the long sandy stretches around Lopar, such as Rajska Plaža (Paradise Beach), popular with families, as well as quieter coves suited to swimming and diving. The Mediterranean climate, with warm, dry summers, supports water-based activities such as sailing, kayaking and scuba diving. The pine forest of Dundo, protected as a nature reserve, provides a shaded area for walking. Local cuisine focuses on seafood, olive oil and sheep's cheese, often paired with Dalmatian wines. Rab remains a popular summer destination thanks to its historic character, coastal scenery and blend of island tradition and seaside tourism.
