Moena

Moena is a town in Trentino, located in the Val di Fassa at the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites. Nicknamed 'La Fata delle Dolomiti' (the Fairy of the Dolomites), it belongs to the Ladin-speaking region and retains traces of this culture in its architecture and traditions. The town is the starting point of the Marcialonga, a well-known cross-country ski marathon linking Moena to Cavalese. In winter, it provides access to the Ski Center Latemar and to slopes connected to the Dolomiti Superski network, while summer favours hiking towards the nearby San Pellegrino and Lusia passes. Gastronomically, Moena is known for Puzzone di Moena, a soft PDO cheese with a distinctive aroma, made using traditional methods. The parish church of San Vigilio, with its bell tower visible from across the valley, marks the historic centre. Surrounded by conifer forests and rocky peaks, the town offers a typical alpine setting, valued both for winter sports and for summer tourism centred on discovering Ladin heritage.
