Vigo di Fassa

Vigo di Fassa is a village in the Val di Fassa, in the Trentino Dolomites, close to the Catinaccio (Rosengarten) massif and the Sassolungo peak. A cable car links the village to the Ciampedie plateau, a popular starting point for summer walks offering views of the limestone cliffs typical of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In winter, the village forms part of the extensive Val di Fassa ski area, connected to the wider Dolomiti Superski network, with slopes suited to various levels and access to local lifts. The village retains a strong Ladin identity, reflected in its language, traditions and local cuisine, with specialities such as canederli dumplings, polenta and mountain cheeses. The modest historic centre includes the parish church and traditional wood-and-stone buildings characteristic of Tyrolean alpine architecture. Its central position in the valley makes it convenient for day trips to other Val di Fassa villages such as Moena or Canazei. The mountain climate brings mild summers and snowy winters, supporting outdoor activities throughout the year.
