Pozza di Fassa

Pozza di Fassa is a village in the Val di Fassa, in the autonomous province of Trento, set within the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Dolomites. Lying at around 1,320 metres above sea level, it forms part of the Ladin-speaking area, a distinct linguistic and cultural minority within this valley. The village serves as a gateway to the Buffaure and Ciampac ski areas, both linked to the extensive Dolomiti Superski network, while summer months bring opportunities for hiking towards the Catinaccio and Sella mountain groups, visible from numerous surrounding trails. The nearby hamlet of San Nicolò is known for its natural setting, featuring waterfalls and wooded paths. Local cuisine reflects Trentino and Ladin traditions, with dishes such as canederli dumplings, polenta and mountain cheeses. Quieter than nearby Canazei or Vigo di Fassa, the village offers a practical base for exploring the valley, combining unspoilt nature, Ladin heritage and facilities suited to mountain stays throughout the year.
