Canazei

Canazei is a mountain town in the Val di Fassa, in the heart of the Dolomites, within the autonomous province of Trento. Set at around 1,465 metres above sea level, it is one of the best-known resorts in the Dolomites, offering direct access to the Sella Ronda ski circuit, which links several valleys around the Sella massif. The village is also a popular starting point for summer hiking, with trails leading towards iconic peaks such as the Marmolada, the highest mountain in the Dolomites, as well as the Sella and Sassolungo groups. It retains a traditional alpine character, with wooden and stone chalets and a parish church featuring a distinctive bell tower. Local cuisine reflects Ladin and Tyrolean influences, with specialities such as canederli dumplings, polenta and mountain cheeses. Whether in winter or summer, Canazei draws visitors keen on mountain sports and unspoilt natural scenery, set within a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognised for the geological beauty of the Dolomites. The resort offers well-developed tourist facilities, including ski lifts, hotels and shops suited to mountain stays.
