Andriano

Andriano is a small village in South Tyrol, in the province of Bolzano, set in the Adige valley between Bolzano and Merano. This wine and fruit-growing area benefits from a mild climate well suited to the vineyards and apple orchards that cover the surrounding hillsides. The village is crossed by the Waalweg, a scenic path following an old irrigation channel, offering a peaceful walk through vineyards with views of the neighbouring mountains. The local wine cooperative produces well-regarded wines such as Pinot Bianco and Lagrein, typical of the region. A cycle path running alongside the Adige River provides easy access to Bolzano to the south and Merano to the north, both offering shops, museums and lively town centres. The neighbouring villages of Terlano and Nalles share the same agricultural and wine-growing character. Local cuisine, shaped by both Tyrolean and Italian traditions, features apple-based dishes, cured meats and mountain cheeses. Andriano therefore makes a quiet base for exploring South Tyrol, combining gentle walks, wine tasting and excursions towards the nearby Dolomite ranges.
